Selling Internationally

Fabricjam is a worldwide auction website. The buying and selling process is the same when buying and selling locally or internationally.

Please state when listing if you are not willing to post internationally.

Here are some tips to make it easier when buying or selling internationally:

  • Inevitably, when dealing with international sellers, some will speak different languages. Try to communicate with the seller before you commit to buy anything.
  • If you view an international seller's listing, you will see a currency conversion for the price of the item. These rates are approximate and serve as a guide. Please check exact international exchange rate before you commit to buy anything.
  • Ensure that you are aware of any international regulations involved when purchasing from abroad including customs and international documentation.

The UK government has imposed sanctions on certain types of trade with other countries. There are also some EU sanctions on certain types of trade with some other countries. You will find information on export controls by viewing the government website relating to the Export Control Department.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment also implements various United Nations and EC measures which have been adopted concerning trade.

Receiving payments

Please state your payment methods clearly in your listing to avoid any confusion. You can select from one or all of the following methods
•    Credit/debit card (if you have the facility to accept these payments)
•    Paypal
•    Postal order, money order
•    Personal Cheque (please ensure that cheques have cleared in your bank before posting items)
As we are not party to the actual transaction, we cannot take responsibility or be held responsible for fraudulent payments, but we have some guidelines which, if adhered to, should minimize the risk of payment problems;
•    Never trust an e-mail of any sort, or paperwork from a buyer which confirms payment, always double check your bank account/ paypal account.
•    Ensure all payments have cleared and funds are readily available before posting an item.
•    Credit/debit card payments: Telephone the card provider to verify the card and ensure the address on the card is the same as the address of the buyer.
•    Paypal payments: Please check your actual paypal account before posting items.

How to file a non payment report

If a buyer has not paid for an item within 14 days of auction closure, you may then file a non-payment report in order to claim your seller fee’s back.

We encourage you to take the following steps before filing a non payment report:
•    Send buyer another invoice
•    Contact buyer and request payment in a courteous manner

If, after 14 days, despite reasonable endeavour, the buyer has not paid for an item, please click here to file a non-payment report.

Exercise self restraint if a buyer does not respond to your communication. It is understandable that you may feel frustrated due to the inconvenience if a buyer does not wish to complete the sale or ignores you. It is however important to note that directing abuse at another member of Fabricjam is strictly forbidden and can result in an official warning, account suspension or closure.

If you have received an Unpaid Item Strike, you can send us evidence that you paid, or tried to pay, for the item.

How to send an invoice

Once a buyer has won an auction, they will receive an automated invoice via e-mail. If they do not respond to the first invoice, you may send them an additional invoice by going into your my account and selecting print invoice on the relevent item.
